Good afternoon all,
I have a client right now who is transitioning from having used no
screenreader to using Jaws. I was teaching her the little I know about Microsoft
xl (I probably didn't spell that right) and she had some questions that I couldn't
answer, so I thought I'd bring them here. It is very likely one of you will know
how to do these things.
How do you widen a cell with Jaws when in xl?
How do you add a row using the keyboard when in xl?
How do you insert a title at the top of the spreadsheet you're working on?
As I said before, my xl experience extends to making basic spreadsheets, such
as for a budget or something. Beyond that, I know not about it. Any answers
to her questions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Ashley
I know essentially nothing about Excel, but I hope that someone has some answers here because I'd like to learn about it in order to use it at work. Good luck!
Well, entering data is really easy. You simply navigate to the cell you would like to input data in to, and begin typing. If you press enter, you will be moved to the next row . So if you're in a1, pressing enter after you have typed whatever you want in to it will take you to a2. Also, when navigating tables, the arrow keys just move you in whatever direction you press. Up arrow goes to the cell above the one in focus, right arrow moves you to the right, etc. To delete data, move to the cell or use virtual find to get to what you want, and hit the delete key. The cell is now empty.
To give a worksheet a name, go to the home ribbon with alt h and then choose the header option. Enter the name you want, and press escape.
As for inserting rows and columns, again, go to the Home ribbon. Then select the insert option. Tab around to find it, or just do as I do and press I. Then choose whether you want to insert a row, column, and the number of them that you'd like to insert.
HTH,
Scott
